UI Designer? A 2.0 profession focused on the User Interface — that is, the clarity of navigation. This role, a variation of web design, is most commonly found in e-commerce, where the customer journey is paramount.


The goal of the UI Designer is to improve the user interface and make navigation simple, intuitive, and easy to understand, while meeting the brand’s identity requirements.
The roles of UX Designer and UI Designer are often associated; however, the UX Designer focuses on the customer experience, while the UI Designer works on the visual aspect of the site and the final rendering for users.

Skills required to become a UI Designer


The UI Designer must master several creative software tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. Creativity is therefore essential for this role. Basic knowledge of web languages and awareness of graphic design trends on the web are also required. In addition, the UI Designer must be curious and enthusiastic about new technologies. They must be organized and rigorous in their tasks.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities are:

  • Studying customer usage to identify pain points and areas for improvement,
  • Building typical user profiles,
  • Creating mockups for future designs,
  • A/B testing of different versions

Where do UI Designers work?

UI Designers can be found at advertisers and agencies, within the communications and marketing department. They can also work as freelancers.

Career progression

The UI Designer role is becoming increasingly sought after by companies, now that businesses are adopting a "customer first" approach. UI Designers can progress into project management roles or become art directors.

Training programs

There are no specific programs dedicated solely to becoming a UI Designer; however, at Digital Campus we train students in web design and the various techniques used by UI Designers.
