Designing vintage-style posters — that was the brief given to first-year students on the Master's in Digital Art Direction. A concrete project, now on display at the Kampus.
Under the supervision of Christophe Kuntzmann, an experienced art director and instructor at Digital Campus, these posters created as part of the graphic design history course capture key locations on the campus where students follow their training. Thanks to this initiative, their creations are now displayed in various spots around the campus, offering everyone a window into their talent.
Mr Kuntzmann's classes immerse students in the major aesthetic movements that have shaped graphic design. Each student explored past graphic trends, drawing inspiration from the typography, colours, and compositions characteristic of each era. Inspired by styles such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Pop Art, students reinterpreted these influences to create original posters.
This project embodies Digital Campus's teaching philosophy: learning through practice and theory for a comprehensive education.
The posters created by students were printed and displayed in various spaces of the Kampus in Strasbourg. The exhibition attracted many curious visitors, creating a space for dialogue around the artworks. This showcase gives students a first experience of public exhibition, boosting their confidence and critical thinking.
By displaying their creations directly in the campus's communal spaces, this initiative not only celebrates the graphic skills acquired, but also raises awareness among the entire student and teaching community of the importance of design in visual communication.
The posters, placed in strategic locations, create a visually stimulating and inspiring environment, reinforcing the creative identity of Digital Campus in Strasbourg.
The Master's in Digital Art Direction aims to prepare tomorrow's designers for the demands of an ever-evolving sector.
This vintage poster project is just one example of the creative initiatives that equip students for the realities of the profession. By acquiring practical skills and a broader artistic culture, they are ready to take on the challenges of their future professional journey.
This project gives students at Digital Campus in Strasbourg an immersion in graphic design and an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice. Guided by experienced professionals, students are better prepared to enter the professional world as skilled and passionate creatives. The exhibition embodies the dynamism of Digital Campus and its commitment to nurturing inspired talent.
