On Tuesday 21 January, the ORATIO Club at Campus ENOVA organised a conference on the theme: Technology in the service of a more respectful world!

A theme that is particularly close to Digital Campus.

The ORATIO Club is a student-led initiative whose aim is to create interactive events between passionate professionals and students, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

On this occasion, Ferdinand Richter, Head of France for the Ecosia search engine, was present to discuss his professional activity.

Ecosia is a German ethical search engine. It displays advertising links that generate revenue with each click, and donates 80% of its profits to a reforestation programme.

Active worldwide, Ecosia plants trees in Burkina Faso, Peru, Tanzania, Madagascar and twelve other countries.

By November 2019, more than 75 million trees had been planted since its launch, representing several billion searches in total — at an average of 45 searches to plant one tree.

How can we align our digital habits with more responsible practices?

How can companies easily improve their corporate social responsibility in terms of sustainable development?

The Head of France for Ecosia was therefore present at the Enova campus in Labège to answer these questions, and also to present his company, its purpose, how it works and its role.

A one-and-a-half-hour conference held in the form of a debate and Q&A session.

To close the conference, Ferdinand Richter presented his future projects in collaboration with influencers, which will help raise awareness among a new, younger and more connected audience.

He also discussed the Australia reforestation project.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed this event, which allowed them to discover how a responsible and planet-friendly search engine works.
