In November, during a hackathon organised by Nexton, a consulting firm specialising in digital transformation, Digital Campus students in Paris brilliantly rose to the challenge of digital eco-design.
Discover in this feature how collaboration, creativity and innovation led to winning several awards.
An ambitious challenge set by Nexton
The brief was ambitious and the timeline tight: devise an innovative digital solution in 11 hours to reduce electronic waste, with eco-design at the heart of the process. The hackathon aimed to rethink existing practices, to reconcile technological innovation with environmental responsibility, while meeting user expectations.
A meaningful project: eco-design
In a context where the environmental impact of technology is under increasing scrutiny, participants explored approaches to reduce the ecological footprint from the very earliest stages of design. An innovative approach combining technology with responsibility.
One team, one vision: ElecLoop
The winning project, ElecLoop, offers a simple and pragmatic solution for the recycling of electronic devices.
The application allows:
- employees to drop off their electronic devices directly at their workplace.
- the recycling process to be simplified while raising awareness of the importance of reducing electronic waste.
A simple and effective solution that everyone would be happy to adopt.
A rigorous working method for our Lead UX and Tech Lead students…
Ideation and brainstorming: Finding an innovative and viable solution.
User research: Defining a precise target audience to maximise impact.
Prototyping: Creating a clear and functional mockup.
Final pitch: Convincing a panel of experts with an impactful presentation.
A collective and inspiring victory
At the end of the final pitch before a panel of experts, here are the results:
- Hackathon winner with her group: Maëlle Touchais (Lead UX) for the ElecLoop project
- 3rd place in the student award: Lisa Hullin (Lead UX)
- 2nd place in the student award: Maxime Podgorski (Lead UX)
- On the podium for the student award: Nicolas Le Bozec (Tech Lead)
Beyond the awards, an enriching experience that our students embraced with enthusiasm and pride.
The role of mentors
A special mention goes to the programme leads for the Tech Lead and Lead UX specialisations, who guided students throughout this project. Their support enabled students to give their very best.
This experience beyond the walls of the Paris campus embodied the Digital Campus spirit: UX-specialised students and Tech Leads working hand in hand with industry professionals. A fine example of collaborative innovation that proves responsibility and technology can go hand in hand.
Congratulations to our students!
