Trend creator and guardian of engagement for Gen Z, Lola is social media and brand content manager at Fruitz, a dating app. Passionate about the behaviours and trends of this generation, she navigates the digital world with ease and tells us about her journey.

 

Tell us more about your background

My name is Lola, I'm 25 years old and I'm social media and brand content manager at Fruitz. It's a dating app for Gen Z, the 18-25 age group.

Can you tell us more about Gen Z?

They're funny, they're super open-minded. They like to say when things are good, but also when things aren't. They're engaged.

What was your first job?

I started at WOÔ. I carried on from my work-study placement, as a social media strategist. WOÔ is an influencer agency, so I did 6 months on a permanent contract, then I moved to Fruitz.

What was your first salary?

I went straight into a work-study placement and was earning around 900 and something.

 

Your years at Digital Campus

What programme did you study?

I studied at Digital Campus in Paris. But back then it was called IESA. I did the Bachelor's for 3 years and then a Master's called MDSM. I think it's now the Brand Content Master's — before it was digital marketing and social media.

Do you have a story from your years at Digital Campus?

The end-of-year Bachelor challenge. It was almost a month of challenges in different groups. We were an all-girls group and we really pushed the project to its limits. And otherwise, it's actually surprising to say, because I think all the other students won't agree with me, but the final dissertation.

If you had to share one last thing with them, what would it be?

To do competitive intelligence (market monitoring). At the beginning, all the teachers told me: "You need to do market monitoring, you need to do market monitoring." And I thought it was a cliché, but actually it's essential. That's how ideas come, that's how strategies come, that's how you stay aware of everything happening around you.

And that's how you can perform better.

 

Where can you do market monitoring?

When you go on Twitter, on Instagram, on LinkedIn, Twitch, TikTok, everywhere really. It's all the time. It's when you take the metro — that's market monitoring. It's all the time.
