On Tuesday 10 April 2018, the final presentation of the national Hackathon took place, aiming to offer the FFP (French Federation of Professional Training) an app to support the reform of vocational training. Here's a look back at this emotion-filled event for the Digital Web Prep students of Digital Campus Montpellier.
What is the French Federation of Professional Training?
The FFP is the professional organisation representing the vocational training sector. Working closely with decision-makers, it contributes to the development of public policies relating to integration, guidance and vocational training.

This adventure began on Thursday 8 March 2018 when the FFP presented its challenge, to convince students to work on an app to support the reform of vocational training.

For a week, these students dug into the subject to offer the FFP an app that best meets its expectations.

On 16 April 2018, the time for the national presentation arrived. Team Formi was chosen to defend the colours of the Montpellier campus. After reviewing the projects of the 5 Digital Campus schools in France, the FFP had to select the three finalist teams to take part in the National Hackathon in Paris, on 9 and 10 April 2018. These were the teams from Digital Campus Montpellier, Digital Campus Rennes and Digital Campus Lyon.

During this National Hackathon, the students from Digital Campus, IESA Multimédia and EM Lyon were spread across the three finalist teams. This event was intense for the students; despite a few difficulties, exchange and sharing were the watchwords of this hackathon. Team Formi delivered a simple, intuitive app that guides users in finding a vocational training course that suits them.
The jury's deliberation ends and the moment of the result draws near; the teams await the final decision. Nicolas Bouzou, chair of the jury, takes the floor and announces the Montpellier team as the grand winner of this Hackathon. A big thank you to the members of the jury, to the FFP for organising this event and, of course, to the many students for the work accomplished. The members of the jury: Nicolas Bouzou (Chair of the jury): Economist - director of the Asterès consultancy; Marie Ducastel: Chair of the Management Board - Abilways; Guillaume Huot: Member of the Management Board - Cegos Group; Arnaud Portanelli: Co-founder of Lingueo; Amélie Banzet: Head of the Open Government Unit - Etalab - Office of the Prime Minister. On 5 June, Team Formi has an appointment at the Ministry of Labour to present its project to the Minister of Labour, Muriel Pénicaud. The press is talking about it over here!

The winning team of the Hackathon, Digital Campus Montpellier, was received today (Wednesday 6 June) by the President of the Republic's Social Adviser, Pierre-André Imbert, at the Élysée Palace. To conclude this incredible journey through the highest institutions of the Republic, here are the Adviser's closing words to the students: “Bravo, a great initiative, this is fine work! It makes me optimistic about this app going live in a year!
