Digital Campus, in partnership with Bordeaux Métropole, took part in the Grande Jonction 2017 last Wednesday, 8 March.
8 March is International Women's Rights Day. To mark the occasion, the “La Grande Jonction 2017” event was held at the Palais des Congrès in Bordeaux. This 4th edition of the Grande Jonction immerses you in the world of Virtual and Augmented Reality, Transmedia and Animation. The event brings together many players from the digital sector—students and professionals alike—all present for this B2B trade show.
Digital Campus has been a partner of this event since the very first edition of the Grande Jonction. This year, our Digital Campus 2nd-year Bachelor students were in charge of welcoming professionals and of filming the event.
One of the key junctions for this event is the one made between women and the digital world. The conferences thus began with a gentle and authentic approach, hosted by Fanny BOUTON, a high-tech journalist.

“Boosting business creation for women”, “The challenges of innovation through design”, “women's entrepreneurship”, or even “the Rabbids”—this year the topics at the Grande Jonction are varied but follow the same guiding theme. And so Elise DEPECKER, Director of Atis, ended her speech by calling on men: “to rebalance our values we need your help, your support and your share of femininity.” Joëlle CAROLINE followed up by telling us about Ubisoft, while in parallel on Twitter the #LGJ2017 hashtag reached the Top Tweet ranking in France, behind #Journeedesdroitsdesfemmes and #Womensday.
It was then the turn of Dominique SCIAMMA, Director of Strate Design, to take the floor. He opened by talking about today's world, which he describes as material, pyramidal, local, regulated, closed and poorly educated. But he also spoke of change: “the age of the product is over, this is the age of experience”, or again “Gone are the days of either playing or working, consuming or playing! We can do everything at once”. He told us that “we must go to the real and understand the virtual”. He concluded by explaining that these changes will lead us to “a world where we will no longer need to create a day for women”. Various players from the digital sector took turns speaking on the topics of virtual reality, augmented reality, animation and transmedia, among them Thierry VAZZOLER of News Republic and Laura PARGADE of Sunna Design. But now it was already the end of this fine morning, and Virginie CALMELS, Vice-President of Bordeaux Métropole and First Deputy Mayor of Bordeaux in charge of the Economy, Employment and Sustainable Growth, closed this 4th edition of the Grande Jonction by confirming that “Bordeaux Métropole is today a showcase for the entrepreneurial spirit”.
