On 8 April 2019, Tech for Good ran a collective thinking workshop at Digital Campus Toulouse to help tackle societal challenges.

What is Tech for Good?

The Tech for Good Tour is a nationwide tour of France aimed at raising awareness of technological innovation in the service of the public interest and encouraging action at the local level.

Co-founded by:

  • Makesense: an international community enabling citizens, entrepreneurs, and organisations in around a hundred cities to collectively solve the social and environmental challenges facing our society.
  • Latitudes: an association helping to transform the education of engineers and developers to foster their long-term engagement in projects of general interest.
Tech for Good came to speak with Digital Campus students about the social and solidarity economy and to present Tech for Good projects.
Unity Cube, an association offering emergency housing solutions, was also present to discuss their work.
After the various pitches from the speakers, students formed working groups and launched an ideation process through different workshop formats before sharing their learnings.

We gathered the thoughts of Anthony Carcaillon, a first-year Master's in Digital Strategy student:

What did you think of Tech for Good?

It was really interesting. I'm thinking about starting a business after I graduate — or possibly during my studies — and they helped me become even more aware of the potential for innovation and technology in the project I have in mind.

They're used to seeing all kinds of projects, so they were able to help me dig deeper into my initial idea to address social, economic, and territorial questions.

What was the idea/project you developed with your group?

Our group project was based on my DC Start idea (a project we develop over the two years of the Master's).
The concept is to offer a monthly subscription giving access to daily offers at various partner venues. The gamified aspect of the app is central, and we want to lean into this angle in our communications.

Thanks to this Tech for Good session, we also discovered that the app plays a role in combating social isolation and sedentary behaviour.
