#HackTonTER: this year, for its 2017/2018 edition, Digital Campus Montpellier welcomed SNCF – TER Occitanie (the regional rail service) to take part in its Hackathon!

What is a Hackathon?

This event, organised by the web school Digital Campus Montpellier, invites a company to bring a digital challenge to students ranging from first-year Bachelor's to second-year Master's. Students from the continuing professional training programme also take part in the challenge.

Split into 15 working teams, they spend 30 hours developing an idea, a concept to address this challenge, and then present their project orally to a jury of qualified people selected by the company itself.

How did this 2017/2018 edition go?, This edition involved 160 students, split into 16 teams of 10. During the day, SNCF-TER Occitanie mobilised more than a dozen coaches to help and guide the students in the right direction when creating a project whose challenge was:, "How can we make regional TER trains more appealing by showcasing the cultural and tourism potential of the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region?", 80 pizzas, 70 litres of coffee, RedBull, and a muscle warm-up accompanied by breakfast were all needed to get through this challenge., The "favourite" team and the winning team won, respectively, TER travel passes and 600 euros in gift vouchers valid for all SNCF-related transport., What about you?… Do you feel up to taking on this challenge, which unfolds in an atmosphere like no other?
