Responding to the reality that many students struggle to make ends meet and face financial hardship, the Nantes campus has, over the past few months, launched "Frip from Desire".
The goal: to lend a helping hand while bringing an extra touch of warmth and community spirit to the campus.
A community second-hand clothes shop to give students a financial boost and allow them to treat themselves without the added financial pressure.
The aims of this project are simple but meaningful:
- Give students the opportunity to dress affordably.
- Promote an eco-responsible approach by giving second-hand clothes a new lease of life.
- Build a project that the campus team hopes to see grow through student involvement. A project that is both impactful and educational, as it requires the design and development of a genuine concept.
This community second-hand shop is a great way to give students a financial boost and allow them to treat themselves without any added financial strain.
How does it work?
The shop's stock is based entirely on donations. The campus team has already begun collecting clothes and has built up an initial stock with a variety of items: jeans, jackets, jumpers, t-shirts, shirts, shoes and accessories.
A call for volunteers was launched to "recruit" students to run the shop. Their responsibilities include:
- Collecting clothes
- Building partnerships with clothing retailers and major brands to obtain bulk donations, etc.
- Sorting and organising the clothes
- Organising promotional events and managing communications around the shop
Campus students are also working on a project linked to the second-hand shop as part of their coursework.
This initiative has been a cornerstone of life at Digital Campus Nantes for some time now, and we are delighted to see its impact growing day by day.
