Since 2016, the Passerelle (bridging programme) students at Digital Campus Lyon have been running robotics and coding workshops for primary-school children, a project in partnership with Fréquences Écoles and the Ldigital collective. The aim of this initiative is to introduce young children to digital culture and new technologies.
During the time set aside for after-school activities, students from Digital Campus Lyon, enrolled in the Passerelle “Web Project Management” programme, meet primary-school children and run workshops developed by the Fréquence Écoles association.
These activities focus more specifically on coding, programming, automation and robotics. The initiative also aims to test the ability of Digital Campus Lyon students to lead these workshops and to follow the teaching frameworks provided by the association.
Looking for schools training future professionals in the communications, media and digital sectors, the Fréquence Écoles association turned to Digital Campus Lyon and its students to find facilitators capable of passing on this interest in and appetite for digital to these young children. Following the success of the first trial, the initiative was rolled out to 2 schools in 2017: the Saint Sacrement school and the Pasteur school in Lyon.
More than 10 workshops will be run during February and March by the 2017 DC Passerelles cohort.
