Thérèsa Son, a Digital Campus alumna, gives us the opportunity to discover her journey and her experience from Digital Campus to her role in consulting.

Thérèsa Son, a graduate of the professional training programme at Digital Campus, shares her enriching experience with us, highlighting the cohesion among students and the availability of lecturers. Her involvement in a variety of assignments — from digital transformation consulting to managing online communities — reflects the dynamic evolution of her career, grounded in continuous learning and a constant drive to embrace new challenges.

Your years at Digital Campus?

I completed an MBA in Digital Strategy at Digital Campus in Paris through a continuing education programme. There was a wonderful spirit of cohesion among the students and the lecturers were very available and supportive. I particularly enjoyed the project management classes, through which we were introduced to the Agile approach both in theory and in practice. The specialist courses were very rich and grounded in real-world case studies. We also had the opportunity to respond to genuine client briefs to validate what we had learned.

In addition, we had the option to take part in public speaking coaching sessions to help us project the most professional presence throughout our careers.

What does your job involve?

A digital transformation consultant is employed by a consulting firm and works at client sites as an external service provider. They take on assignments of varying lengths, bringing their expertise to bear on a range of topics (UX Design, project management, strategy, software implementation, research management, etc.) for clients across diverse sectors (Banking, Insurance, Finance, Retail, Public Sector, Cybersecurity, etc.).

As consultants, we can find ourselves in two situations. We may be engaged on an assignment — and depending on the nature of the assignment, no two days or clients will be the same — or we may be between assignments (inter-contract). In that case we are awaiting our next project, but we certainly do not sit idle!

There is always plenty to do to ensure the firm's commercial success, while also strengthening our existing skills and acquiring new ones! This is also the ideal time to earn certifications that will make us stand out on future assignments. Meanwhile, we may be called upon to respond to tenders, carry out business development activities, or deliver in-house training sessions.

For my part, I have had the opportunity to complete three consecutive assignments: in the public sector, in payments, and currently in retail. Alongside this, together with members of my consulting practice, I co-manage the LinkedIn page "Inside Payments," which analyses the latest news in the payments sector and breaks down its key concepts in accessible terms.

Why does going to work make you happy?

Continuous learning! The fact of changing work environments throughout your career means you make countless connections, stay open-minded, and become comfortable with the idea of stepping outside your comfort zone. We have access to a wide range of training resources, both in-person and remote, allowing us to develop our skills on the topics of our choice. We also have the opportunity to take initiatives within the firm. In short, it is a very stimulating environment that pushes us to give our best and to keep challenging ourselves.

What advice would you give to current and future Digital Campus students?

Keep learning continuously and make sure you build cross-functional skills.

Stay curious and keep feeding your mind so that you remain adaptable.
