The 2017 winners of the Margaret Prize at Digital Women’s Day (Journée de la Femme Digitale). Could you be among the 2018 nominees?
Digital Women’s Day is an annual event held at the beginning of March, now in its fifth year. Its main purpose is to bring together key players in the digital world and share knowledge that can be applied within one’s own organisation.
The two organisers and co-founders of the event, Delphine Remy-Boutang (founder of digital agency The Bureau, based in Paris and London, and social media expert) and Catherine Barba (entrepreneur, e-commerce and digital retail expert, Business Angel), describe it as a day “celebrating boldness, entrepreneurship, and innovation”. Each year brings ever more new experiences. In 2015, attendees could get connected tattoos and were greeted by robot hosts; in 2017, JDF Walks were introduced (because the digital world is a road that requires movement and forward momentum), and participants could try Tilt Brush with 3D virtual reality painting. The 2016 edition gave rise to a club — a 100% female club called JFDConnect, a future champion of female-led innovation.

As every year, the day concludes with an awards ceremony. Two winners are honoured each time — one in the Entrepreneur category and one in the Intrapreneur category. Winners are selected based on several criteria, but the most important is that this woman embodies a vision of tomorrow’s hyper-connected world and has successfully led a major project in 2016., In 2017, the award was the Margaret Prize, created in tribute to Margaret Hamilton, a coder at NASA. Like Margaret, the winners are committed, inspiring women who are helping to build a fairer world through digital technology., 10 nominees across 2 categories were on the shortlist. Ultimately, Josephine Goube in the Entrepreneur category and Roxane Varza in the second category were honoured.
